Learning Ability Battery Administrator TrainingLAB Administrator Training: LAB 030LTF provides training for organizations/companies own employees, and provides the software, assessment masters and materials to be used in the assessment process.
The LAB Administrator, with a Matric (Grade 12) or higher qualification (full desired profile available from LTF) can conduct the LAB successfully in his or her company after training has taken place and a rehearsal has been done. The training requires pre-reading, a four-day course followed by three to four weeks self-study and rehearsal, with a further two days of practical and written assessments (proof of trial assessment required)
The client's own trained administrator can conduct the LAB with their own purchased materials and process the results in-house. Results are available almost immediately. The required processing units (One Unit per person assessed) are purchased on a cost-effective sliding scale.
The LAB Administrator’s Course is designed to prepare candidates to conduct LAB assessments and to advise and counsel learners. The course out comes are those of the two applicable SAQA registered Unit Standards. LAB Administrators are required to meet the outcomes of two SAQA Unit Standards: US 7386: Assess learners within a learning situation (The administration of a LAB Assessment)
US 117864: Advise and counsel learners (Within a Skills Development Programme, before and after assessment)
LAB Administrators can subsequently be SAQA accredited as Assessors using the LAB, provided they meet the minimum standard of 80% in the written assessment and submit a Portfolio of Evidence.
Effective Use of LAB AdministratorsWhere organizations/companies elect to have their own in-house LAB Administrators trained (recommended), these selected employees should be directly involved in the company’s Skills Development Programme. LAB Administrators should not only conduct in-house LAB Assessments, but need to be involved in Advising and Counselling employees in the assessment process, and especially in further career development, life and job skills, education, training and career opportunities.
For this task, the LAB Administrator must be fully acquainted with the employers’ Human Resource Policies and must have a detailed knowledge of what contribution the assessed employee is required to make to the company’s performance and productivity, and what skills are required for progress within the organization.
ABET Facilitator TrainingTo ensure the successful implementation and completion of an ABET Programme in your organisation, we strongly advise that, should your choice be to do in-house training, your facilitator be trained by LTF in Suggestopedic Accelerated Learning Techniques (SALT). LTF can train suitable candidates (A profile is available from LTF) from your organization/company as ABET Facilitators and can provide the necessary training manuals and learner workbooks
The training requires pre-reading, attendance of a five-day initial course, a self-study and rehearsal period of three to four weeks with a further two days of practical and written assessments (proof of rehearsals required) Once this course is successfully completed the LTF Trained ABET Facilitator is ready to present the following ABET courses, using LTF materials:
Mother Tongue Literacy Mother Tongue literacy is available in any one of the nine languages: Afrikaans, South Sotho, North Sotho, Tswana, Xhosa, Zulu, Venda, Tsonga and Siswati. Candidates who scored +65% in the LAB can complete Level 1 in 80 hours, after which the candidate can proceed to the next level, i.e.:
English Communication Level 1 At this level the candidate learns to understand, speak and write up to 300 most commonly used words, also completed in 80 hours.
English Communication Level 2 This level can be accomplished in +/- 80 hours.
Numeracy Level 1 Conducted in English and completed in 80 hours.
English Communication Level 3 and Numeracy Level 2 These two subjects can run concurrently, each level is completed in 80 hours per subject.
English Communication Level 4 and Numeracy Level 3 These two subjects can run concurrently, each level is completed in 100 hours per subject.
Maths Level 4 This level is completed in 160 hours,
Teaching Ethnic LanguagesLTF Trained ABET Facilitators are also ideal for presenting Ethnic language training to management, with the appropriate materials available from LTF.
In our “Rainbow Nation” we have eleven official languages, and many people in management are unable to communicate with employees in their home language. Being able to communicate in the home language of the employee not only engenders mutual respect and harmony between races, but also enhances communication in the organization, thus promoting productivity and profitability.
We propose that the Facilitator decide assessments for Levels 1-3,provided that external monitoring is done on a continuing basis by LTFA trained monitors.
ABET Project Manager TrainingMany Adult Basic Education and Career Development Programmes have failed during the past five years in South Africa. The money and time invested by the company failed to produce the desired outcomes and expectations for managers and learners. This wasted effort and money has been as a result of several reasons, but mainly the lack of a dedicated and trained ABET Project Managerr esponsible for and overseeing the successful implementation and completion of the ABET Programmes.
The person designated in theorganization to manage the ABET project, needs to be fully equipped to handle all the aspects involved in order to effectively implement and conclude an ABET programme successfully. For this, LTF provides a 3-day ABET Project Manager course, which covers:
- Employment Equity Requirements.
- Role players and management involvement at all levels.
- Budgeting procedures and control cost of training.
- Facilitators performance criteria.
- Assessment and placement of learners.
- Materials and physical requirements.
- Communication and liaison up and down.
- Monitoring procedure and feedback to management.
- Determining outcomes for the project.
- Certification options and procedures.
We strongly recommend that no ABET project commences before an ABET Project Manager has been assigned and equipped with the required knowledge of how to manage the Adult Basic Education programme in your organization. The candidate is provided with a comprehensive manual and notes.
Personal Financial Management FacilitatorsLead the Field presents a Personal Financial Management Facilitator Programme over 4 days to empower facilitators to effectively present the Personal Financial Management Programme in their companies, to enable employees to manage their own finances, reducing stress and worry, and resulting in a more effective workforce. LTF’s Personal Financial Management 2 day Programme is a significant Life Skills empowerment course. Financial worries is one of the factors that contribute to loss of productivity on the shop floor. It examines the role of money, why so many people are locked in debt, and gives sound guidelines for managing personal financial affairs. This will enable people to live a stress-free life and to enjoy the fruits of their labours.
